TITUS HARRIS SOCIETY CORE VALUES
The Titus Harris Society was founded in 1960 to honor the legacy and memory of Titus Harris MD, who founded the department of Psychiatry at UTMB Galveston School of Medicine in 1926, which became first such department west of the Mississippi River.
Dr. Harris was extraordinarily effective as an administrator, as an outstanding teacher of the medical students and residents, and as an astute clinician who gave attention to every detail in the care of each patient. The Society has continually supported Dr. Harris's original goal of the visionary and eclectic training of psychiatric physicians for Texas and elsewhere.
